ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Alli began her path as an artist after retiring from public education. She has worked under many notable LA artists and taken classes at Emeritus College, Santa Monica City College and Otis College with a focus on figurative drawing and landscape painting. She continues her painting education with Linda Jacobson, Otis instructor, up to the present time.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is a culmination of my travels and experiences with the natural world. Guided by textures, movement, and colors, my art expresses the joy of time spent fully immersed in the wonder of nature.
When painting, I begin my piece by applying a variety of gels to create a textured foundation. Pouring acrylic paint or inks on unstretched canvas, layering painted paper, and collaging miscellaneous found materials reveal hidden surprises that steer me forward. I especially enjoy capturing light, whether it be an illuminated sunset, a reflection on the water, highlights on mountain tops, or leaves changing color with the season. I love to experiment with different tools, brushstrokes, palettes, and techniques to create atmosphere.
My art is a work in progress, a joyful journey that has opened exciting vistas, and has connected me to inspiring art communities all over the world. As a painter, my lifetime goal is to release my inner spirit, be in the present, develop patience, and create from my heart.
